In 1967, Edgar founded the band Tangerine Dream and started to experiment with sequencers and synthesizers, exploring and innovating with sound and becoming one of the foremost groundbreakers in the new genre of electronic music.

With his visionary work, both as a solo artist and as the founding member and head of Tangerine Dream, he is recognized as one of the pioneers of electronic music.

Born on D-Day in Tilsit, East Prussia, Edgar Froese grew up in the city of West-Berlin. Edgar took piano lessons from the age of 12 but later on turned his endeavors more towards the guitar. He studied painting and sculpture at the Academy of Arts and was highly influenced by surreal encounters with Salvador Dali and Jimi Hendrix.
