As I am a professed dadaist and surrealist, I think that, in addition to many statements in the corresponding Russian and French manifests, a sentence of Hugo Ball is very pertinent: "What we call Dada, is an extremely serious fool’s game coming from nothing, in which all higher questions are implied…!"
